Quick answers
Is Fellow SOC 2 Type II compliant?
Fellow says it is. Its help centre says the latest SOC 2 Type II report covers the Security and Confidentiality criteria, is valid for 12 months and is available on request under a mutual NDA (article dated 6 April 2026).
Does Fellow train AI on customer data?
Fellow’s sub-processor page (last updated 17 June 2026) states that customer data is not used to train AI models. Its blog says its AI providers are contractually barred from retaining meeting content for training purposes.
Where does Fellow store data?
Fellow says it hosts on AWS in the Canada Central region. Its AI features use sub-processors in the USA, and workspace admins can turn those features off.
Can Fellow archive meetings to Global Relay?
Yes, according to both vendors. Fellow and Global Relay both document an Open Connector for Fellow. A Fellow admin enables it and the firm subscribes to Global Relay separately; neither page names the Fellow plan it requires.
Summary
Fellow records or ingests meetings, produces transcripts, summaries and action items, and says its admin controls apply workspace-wide rather than per user. For a regulated firm the points that matter most are that Fellow documents a Global Relay archiving connector, offers optional zero-day retention, and separates where data is hosted (Canada) from where its AI providers process it (the USA).
What Fellow states
| Area | What the vendor states | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| Security attestation | SOC 2 Type II. Fellow says it has been audited since 2020, and that the latest Type II report covers the Security and Confidentiality criteria, is valid for 12 months and is available on request under a mutual NDA. | S1 · 6 Apr 2026 |
| HIPAA and GDPR | Fellow says it signs Business Associate Agreements on request through Support. For GDPR it cites compliant data processing agreements, a secure user deletion protocol and an on-staff Data Protection Officer. | S1 · 6 Apr 2026 |
| Training on customer data | Fellow’s sub-processor page states that customer data is not used to train AI models. Its blog adds that its AI providers are contractually barred from retaining meeting content for training purposes. | S2, S5 · 17 Jun 2026; 24 Sep 2026 |
| Where data is hosted | AWS Canada Central region. The sub-processor list shows the database (PlanetScale) and search index (Elasticsearch) data in Canada. | S1, S2 · 6 Apr 2026; 17 Jun 2026 |
| AI providers | The AI features use sub-processors listed in the USA: Anthropic, OpenAI, Groq, Together.ai and Google for text generation, and Recall AI, Deepgram and AssemblyAI for meeting bots and transcription (Fly.io hosts the meeting bots). Fellow says workspace admins can turn these AI features off in Workspace Settings, and that the providers cannot be enabled or disabled one by one. | S2 · 17 Jun 2026 |
| Retention and deletion | Optional zero-day retention deletes raw recordings and transcripts after processing, while summaries and action items stay under the workspace retention policy. Recording and transcript retention are configured separately. Backups are kept for 30 days. | S3, S1 · 7 Jul 2026; 6 Apr 2026 |
| Admin controls and sign-on | Fellow describes workspace-level admin controls that individual users cannot override. Roles are administrator, manager and individual contributor. Single sign-on works through Google, Office 365, Okta, OneLogin or custom OIDC. SCIM is not mentioned in the article we reviewed. | S5, S1 · 24 Sep 2026; 6 Apr 2026 |
Fellow’s Trust Center (trust.fellow.ai) did not load as readable text when we checked, so it is not used as a source here. Dates are the page’s own where it shows one; otherwise we say “undated”.
Archiving and recordkeeping
Fellow and Global Relay both document a Global Relay Open Connector for Fellow. Global Relay’s page lists what it captures: meeting transcripts, AI-generated summaries and notes, action items and assigned tasks, participant details and meeting metadata, and timestamps, recording references and associated file attachments. It does not say that the audio or video recordings themselves are archived.
Setup is not self-serve. A Fellow admin enables the integration, the firm subscribes to archiving with Global Relay separately, and Global Relay issues credentials that the firm shares with Fellow. Fellow’s blog says this is not a same-day setup. Neither page names the Fellow plan the connector requires. Fellow’s own article tells firms to confirm FINRA, SEC and MiFID II fit with their compliance and legal teams.

Questions to ask before rollout
- Ask for the SOC 2 Type II report under NDA and check the audit period. Fellow says it covers Security and Confidentiality; confirm whether other criteria matter to your review.
- Hosting is in Canada, but the AI providers are in the USA. Ask what meeting content goes to those providers when AI features are on, and whether your policy allows that. If it does not, ask whether the AI features can stay off while you still get the archive.
- Ask which Fellow plan includes the Global Relay connector, and how long setup took for firms like yours.
- If you use zero-day retention, confirm the archive receives the transcript before Fellow deletes it, and decide which copy your policy treats as the record.
- Ask whether recordings are captured by the connector or only references to them.
- Ask how Fellow notifies customers of sub-processor changes. The list we read was last updated on 17 June 2026.
Who it fits
Fellow suits firms that want one tool with admin-enforced controls and a documented route into Global Relay. Because its AI features rely on US-based providers, firms with strict data-location rules should test that point before committing. Fellow is not built around advisory file notes specifically, so check the output formats against your own meeting types.
